- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to analyze different approaches - between the Chinese government and Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron - embedded in the envelope design of the Beijing Olympic National Stadium. Results of examining their intentions are as follows: the Chinese government envisioned the construction of the Beijing Olympic National Stadium as a way to signify notions of harmony and success, while the architects planned to promote a new kind of public space for Beijing. Based on these findings, further research on how these approaches influenced post-Olympic Beijing will be pursued.
