Abstract
This paper proposes the level set based design optimization of magnetic actuator using the adaptive remeshing technique. To get the clear boundary of optimal configuration, the level set method is employed. In the conventional level set based optimization, the level set boundary depends on the initial mesh. However, since the electromagnetic force for the actuator design is calculated by integrating the Maxwell’s stress tensor over the exterior surfaces of the design domain, the adaptive remeshing technique is employed to place nodes on the surfaces. During optimization process, the finite element mesh is re-generated based on the values of the level set function at each node on the boundary. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, the design example of C-core actuator is performed.
