Abstract
This paper presents a method to predict magnetically induced vibration in a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) using time stretched pulse (TSP) excitation. The TSP signal has high signal to noise ratio and flat frequency spectrum, and it can be easily generated by MATLAB in order to excite a PMSM. The magnetic forces acting on teeth of a stator are calculated by the magnetic finite element analysis and the Maxwell stress tensor method. The structural transfer function of the motor is determined using the simulated magnetic forces and the measured vibrations when the TSP excitation is applied to the motor. Finally, the magnetically induced vibration of the motor in operating condition is predicted using the identified structural transfer function and simulated magnetic forces.
