Abstract
Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) have great potential as new alternative means of transportation. The specific benefits of HEVs compared to conventional vehicles include improved fuel economy and reduced emissions. Because the power split control mainly affects on those performances, the control strategy is becoming the key issue of HEV researches. The existing strategies that are called the equivalent consumption minimization strategy (ECMS) or A-ECMS (adaptive ECMS) have the problem of heavy computational burden, besides the detailed driving tendency is not considered. This paper presents the concept of the novel control strategy improving the weaknesses of existing strategies, and shows several preparations for realizing the proposed control strategy. The qua m of the driving tendency is developed by the indexes which reflect the change of the driving ten ncy. Besides, the driving patterns are defined, which becomes the reference driver among continuously varying driving tendency. The equivalence factor and indexes are calculated at those patterns.
