- Abstract
- Literary Imagination in Parody Novels of Heosaengjeon- Focused on Aspects of ‘Heosaeng’ and Women Characters 「Heosaengjeon」, which was released by Lee, Gwang-su in 1923, emphasized that earnest person in distress of a colony was an economic hero. An economic hero described through ‘Heosaeng’, showed that the leader who could save the people should have not only governing ability but also economic ability. However, his wife was embodied with the caricatured appearance. In the parody, which was released by Chae, Man-sik in the liberation period, ‘Heosaeng’ was paid attention as a Seonbi who realized equality for people and ‘Maehwa’, who loved ‘Heosaeng’ until her death, was described as a woman character who achieve the half of success. Equality for people in 「Heosaengjeon」 by Chae, Man-sik corresponded with the situation that right and left wings were jumbled with bifurcation to hold hegemony of liberal space. In the parody released by Lee, Nam-hui in the late 80's, a surrounding, the wife, who had been covered with the main character ‘Heosaeng’, was restored by the influence of a feminist writing. The aspect of ‘Heosaeng’ and the wife in the parody by Lee, Nam-hui became rapidly different from the preceding parody. Heosaeng's contradiction for the spirit of Seonbi was revealed reflecting the wife's affirmative life style. It could be said that a time distance of about 40 years made the difference as a critical distance.
