Abstract
This paper presents a new sensor fault detection algorithm for interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) control system. In order to derive the fault detection algorithm, this paper introduces a linearized IPMSM model transferred from nonlinear IPMSM model by the input-output linearization first. The input-output linearization provides a nonlinear coordinate transformation which linearizes the system dynamic equations. Therefore the linearized IPMSM model which reflects nonlinear properties of the IPMSM can be obtained by applying the inputoutput linearization. Second, this paper presents a residual generator derived from the linearized IPMSM model by applying the parity equation approach. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed fault detection algorithm is verified by the computer simulation using an IPMSM model programmed by MATLAB/Simulink.
