- Abstract
- This paper looks into the sustainability of Dubai in terms of environmental, economic and social aspects. For the analysis, this study employs the concepts of environmental sustainability, construction states, and capital circulation. Finally, this study comes to a conclusion, which says that the Dubai system is not sustainable. In the long term level, the fall of oil prices might jeopardize the Dubai economy. In the short- and mid-term level, the security risks in Middle-East Asia, the limit of the environmental capacity, the energy-extravagant structure of the society, the conflicts between the social classes would endanger the prosperity of Dubai. In concrete, social problems like environmental disruption, power-failure, stoppages of water supply, skyrocketing living prices, declining profit rates in the real estate sector, strikes of migrant workers, and chronic traffic congestion that have been being observed in Dubai are series of signs that economic growth of Dubai reaches to a limit.
