Abstract
CZT(Cadmium Zinc Telluride) is the most promising material for use in X-ray and gamma-ray radiation measurements at room temperature. We studied the fabrication process of the CZT radiation detector by using a low-grade crystal. The dependency of the detector's performance on various mechanical and chemical polishing techniques was studied. The effect of thermal treatments on the CZT detector's performance was also studied. The CZT detector was fabricated based on the results of the above studies and a gamma-ray energy spectrum was successfully measured.
