Abstract
This paper reports the main aspects of the techniques for development new organic scintillators and detectors on their base. We pointed our studies towards obtaining organic scintillators of large dimensions to increase efficiency of detection of ionizing radiations. The techniques under discussion allowed us to obtain: 1) organic crystals of stilbene and p-terphenyl with diameters up to 120 mm and heights up to 100 mm; 2) p-terphenyl polycrystals doped with diphenylbutadiene molecules and stilbene polycrystals up to 250 mm in diameter and 5 mm in height; 3) the first samples of a composite scintillation material on the base of stilbene fractions dispersed in silicone glue base with high efficiency of fast neutron detection.
