Abstract
This paper presents the comparison of electromagnetic force applied to the stator teeth according to the electromagnetic force calculation method. Since it was recently revealed that the higher-order spatial harmonic of electromagnetic force acts like a lower-order spatial harmonic, this study compared the lumped force acting on the teeth. The lumped force was calculated and compared with the nodal force calculated based on the virtual work principle (VWP) and the electromagnetic force calculated based on the Maxwell stress tensor method (MST) at the center of the airgap. The electromagnetic force was calculated through 2D electromagnetic finite element analysis, and comparison was conducted according to the main shape variables, rotor radius and slot opening width.
