저소득 독거 노인의 여가활동 경험에 관한 질적 연구 - 노인여가복지시설 이용 경험자를 중심으로

Abstract

본 연구는 심층 인터뷰를 통해 저소득 독거노인의 여가활동 참여 경험과 이들의 여가활동 참여를 가로막는 다양한 장벽 및 여가가 주는 삶의 의미에 대해 구체적으로 살펴보고, 저소득 독거노인의 여가활동 참여를 제고하기 위한 정책 방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 서울시에 거주하고 있는 저소득 독거노인 5명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였으며, 질적분석을 통해 10개의 주제 묶음을 선정하였다. 그 결과 여가활동을 가로막는 장벽들로 “건강의 문제”, “경제적인 어려움으로 인한 여유 없음”, “여가 프로그램의 부족”, “포기하는 마음”을 확인하였다. 대상자들은 여가활동이 부족한 일상을 “집에만 있는 무료함”과 “속상한 마음”으로 표현하고 있었으며 동시에 여가활동에 “참여하고 싶은 마음”과 “배우고 싶은 마음” 등의 적극적인 욕구를 드러내기도 하였다. 여가활동이 대상자에게 주는 의미는 “생활의 즐거움”과 “사람들과 어울리는 기쁨”으로 나타났다. 이상과 같은 연구결과를 바탕으로 저소득 독거노인의 여가활동 참여의 장벽을 낮추고 수요자 중심의 적극적인 여가 향유권을 제고하기 위한 정책 방안을 논의하였다.

This study aims to investigate the experiences of low-income elderly individuals participating in leisure activities, the barriers they face to participating in such activities, and the significance of leisure activities to them. The study conducted in-depth interviews with 5 elderly people from low-income families living in Seoul, and qualitative analysis identified 10 key topics. The first four topics were identified as barriers to participating in activities, including “health problems,” “financial difficulties,” “lack of available leisure programs,” and “feelings of resignation”. Participants expressed feelings of “boredom” and “disappointment” with their daily lives due to the lack of leisure activities, while also expressing a strong desire to participate and learn new activities. The significance of leisure activities to the participants was found to be “the joy of living” and “the pleasure of socializing” Based on these findings, policy suggestions were presented to reduce the barriers to leisure activities for low-income elderly individuals and to enhance their right to actively enjoy leisure activities.
