- Abstract
- This paper presents design process of ultra-high-speed motor for electric turbo charger considering mechanical stiffness. As the rotational speed of the motor increases, the stress of the rotor increases proportionally to the square of the rotational speed. Therefore, the design is carried out in consideration of not only electrical characteristics but also the mechanical stiffness and of the motor. In this paper, we proceed with the design of the ring type SPMSM with can for electric turbo charger using the following method. First, stress equations based on the radius of the rotor is derived from the equilibrium equations. Then limitation of the outer diameter of a rotor in consideration of stiffness is determined. And then rest of design variables are determined considering electrical characteristics of the mot
