사회 문제 인식 제고를 위한 고등학교 미술과 명화 콜라주 일러스트레이션 수업의 효과성

Abstract

본 연구는 사회 문제 인식 제고를 위한 고등학교 미술과 명화 콜라주 일러스트레이션 수업을 개발하고 그효과성을 분석한 것이다. 효과성 검증을 위해 2024년 10 월 14일 부터 11월 29일까지 총 8주 동안 서울특별서 송파구 소재 A여자고등학교 2학년 102명을 대상으로 사전 및 사후 설문지와 학생 참여 후기를 통해 학생들의수업 주제 선호도와 사회 문제 태도 변화, 그리고 사회적 문제를 표현하는 미술 수업에 대한 인식 등을 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 학생들은 수업 주제 선호도에서 또래문제 및 첨단 기술에 관련된 사회 문제에 관심을 보였고, 사회 문제 태도 변화에서는 ‘사회 문제에 관심이 많다’, ‘사회 문제에 적극 참여한다’, ‘사회 문제를 SNS에알리는 편이다’에 유의미한 결과를 도출할 수 있었다. 또한 사회적 문제를 다루는 미술 수업에 대한 인식에서도 미술 수업이 사회 문제의 다양한 접근과 참여, 그리고 해결 방법에 대한 구체성을 줄 수 있을 것이라는 인식변화가 관찰되었다. 또한 본 연구에서 미술 표현 방법으로 적용된 콜라주 형식은 학생들의 표현 활동에 대한장벽을 낮추는 효과가 있었으며, 일러스트레이션의 예시적 특성은 학생들이 사회적 문제를 재미있고 쉬운 방법으로 표현하도록 도와주어 최종 작품 결과에 대한 만족도를 높여 주었다. 아울러 학생들이 자신과 관련 있는사회적 주제를 선택하여 표현하려는 경향이 강하게 나타났다. 결과적으로 이 연구는 창의적 표현 중심이던 기존의 고등학교 미술 수업을 사회적 문제를 인식하고 사회참여적 활동으로 확장시키는 교육 프로그램을 개발하고, 그 효과를 실증적으로 검증했다는 점에서 중요한 의의를 갖는다.

This study developed a high school art class centered on creating fine art collage illustrations to raise awareness of social issues, and analyzed its effectiveness. To verify its impact, a total of 102 second-year students at A Girls’ High School located in Songpa-gu, Seoul, participated in the program for eight weeks from October 14 to November 29, 2024. Data were collected through pre- and post-surveys and student reflections to examine changes in students’ preferences for class topics, attitudes toward social issues, and perceptions of art classes addressing social problems.The results showed that students were particularly interested in social issues related to peer relationships and advanced technology. Significant changes were observed in their attitudes toward social issues, particularly in statements such as “I am interested in social issues," “I actively participate in social issues," and “I tend to share social issues on social media”, Regarding perceptions of art classes that address social issues, students recognized that art could provide diverse approaches, encourage participation, and offer concrete ways to explore potential solutions. Furthermore, the collage format used as the main expressive method in this study effectively lowered the barriers to artistic expression. The illustrative characteristics of the medium helped engage students in a fun and accessible way, thereby increasing satisfaction with their final artworks. The study also revealed that students tended to choose socially relevant topics that they could personally relate to. Ultimately, this research holds significance as an empirical study in that it developed and verified the effectiveness of an educational program that extends traditional high school art classes—typically focused on creative expression—toward fostering social awareness and participatory engagement.
