- Abstract
The government announced the use of historical and cultural resources as a major means to revitalize regions against regional decline. Historical and cultural resources act as key factors in the pedestrian environment. Therefore, it is necessary to confirm more detailed explanatory relationships between them. This study, targeting the urbanized areas of Seoul, established a 400m grid as a walkable distance unit. This study investigated urban factors that shape the floating population and businesses. In order to understand the overall trends of the floating population and businesses, which can be considered as indicators of regional revitalization, LISA analysis and Spatial Lag Model (SLM) were adopted. According to the research results, the dependent variables have a positive relationship with living services, retail facilities, and commercial historical and cultural resources, while residential historical and cultural resources, as well as other types of historical and cultural resources, have a negative relationship with floating populations and businesses. This study contributes to the strategic use of historical and cultural resources to attract floating populations and businesses. It also offers insights for effective urban cultural planning and policy interventions.
