Abstract
This study examined the mediating effects of basic psychological needs and anger-in in the relationship between relationship addiction and dating violence among people in early adulthood. A survey was conducted with 420 unmarried men and women in their 20s and 30s, and data from 409 individuals who responded diligently were analyzed. The key findings of this study are as follows. First, relationship addiction, satisfaction of basic psychological needs, anger-in, and dating violence showed significant positive correlations with each other. Second, the mediating role of satisfaction of basic psychological needs was confirmed in the relationship between relationship addiction and dating violence. Third, the mediating role of anger-in was confirmed in the relationship between relationship addiction and dating violence. Fourth, a significant sequential mediating effect of satisfaction of basic psychological needs and anger-in was found in the relationship between relationship addiction and dating violence. Based on these results, the significance and implications of counseling for young adults who experienced dating violence were discussed, along with the limitations of the study and directions for future research.
