Abstract
Turbulence is the key factor to determine combustion characteristics in a Spark Ignition engine. In order to increase turbulent intensity, double injection strategy was adopted in this study. First and second injection timings were adjusted to investigate turbulent and mixture formation characteristics. It was revealed that late injection increases turbulent kinetic energy while shows poor fuel-air mixing. Furthermore, turbulent kinetic energy was increased in case of late injection. However, inhomogeneity index was also increased due to not enough fuel-air mixing time.
