- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to investigate a behavior of jets interaction between neighboring jets and investigate the influence of jet interaction on the spray atomization process of a multi-hole gasoline direct injection (GDI) injector experimentally. For this experiment, jet development images were captured by a CCD camera equipped with Nd:Yag laser. To investigate jet interaction, the image of the jets, captured by the CCD camera, has been collected in orthogonal direction with respect to the spray propagation. In order to investigate the influence of jet interaction on spray atomization, droplet diameter and velocity were captured using PDPA system. Results showed that the SMD at the region of jet interaction regions tends to be reduced and the droplet velocity was also shorten compared with spray propagating regions. Furthermore, based on captured images, we confirmed the droplet momentum exchanges were more active at the region of interaction regions.
