- Abstract
- Objectives of this experimental study are to observe a behavior of jets propagation and to investigate the influence of injection pressure on the jet atomization process of a multi-hole gasoline direct injection (GDI) injector. For this study, droplet size and velocity were obtained using a 2-D PDPA (phase Doppler particle analyzer) system for injection pressures up to 30MPa. In addition, images of jet propagation as a function of time were captured using a visualization system with Nd: Yag laser. Results showed that droplet size and velocity distribution were closely related with injection pressure. Increasing injection pressure resulted in a linear reduction in droplet diameter of approximately 5μm
