- Abstract
- The purpose of this paper is to investigate combustion and exhaust emission characteristics in gasoline compression ignition engine. Using gasoline fuel means merit in high volatility and low cetane number. This characteristics easily promote air-fuel mixing ratio in comparison with diesel fuel. Reaching gasoline auto-ignition region set a intake preheating system and it applies heat to cylinder. High temperature of intake air and high pressure injected of gasoline fuel were combined and then release heat and work.
Experiments were performed at single cylinder compression ignition engine at 17.8:1 compression ratio and 1200rpm engine speed. Pressure sensor with glow plug type was acquired pressure data of each cycle and to obtain exhaust emission characteristics used soot measurement device and exhaust emission analyser.
Results of combustion characteristics is showed that high pressure ratio by gasoline fuel multiple auto ignition. Exhaust emission characteristics become low NOx and high HC in decrease of temperature. It understood that low intake temperature interrupts auto ignition of gasoline fuel so that combustion could be done.
