Abstract
This paper proposes the research on AC resistance of winding according to configuration of strands. The analytic approach to AC resistance of the round wire was proposed by modifying the formula of the rectangular wire which was formerly suggested by many other researchers. Then, when applying the strands to the winding, the AC resistance of varying number and arrangement of strands were separately analyzed. Also the method to avoid increasing the AC resistance was suggested when applying strands. All the above results are investigated from the point of inequivalence of impedance. Finally, the process of experiments were proposed to verify the effect of the strand configuration on AC resistance. For assuming a similar situation as common electrical machines such as motor, generator, and transformer, an EI-core with winding was manufactured and it will be tested and verified.
