Abstract
The aim of this study is to identify the recent implications of the purpose-built vehicle body designs by observing the characteristics of the PBV as part of the various types of mobility service systems. Furthermore, this study observed the design characteristics of the purpose-built vehicle as one of the types of main ground transportation means in the future of mobility service system by analyzing the recent developments in various types of purpose-built vehicles. In this study, the analysis was based on the implications for the purpose-built vehicle body design. The produced result showed that the cube-shaped form with a skateboard flat shape enables a higher level of design applicability in window graphics or exterior display panel, and secures independent interior spaces with maximized layout flexibility in broader interior spaces. The main objective of PBV design in future mobility system is to meet the independent needs of each passenger. In addition, design variety will be the most evident characteristic in both exterior and interior designs of future purpose-built vehicles. Copyright © 2020 KSAE /181-05
