Abstract
In the art of today, the form has become the substance, the media a philosophical topic, and likewise "art" itself, a product of both media and philosophy.In the past, a philosophical meaning was bestowed to an artwork after it was finished. However, that procedure has now changed; the creator of the artwork or an art critic will integrate a meaning to the work as it is being made. This is why art and philosophy today have a strong complementary relationship.The introduction of a trend-following medium creates yet another course of art with new philosophical significance. Thus, to fully understand contemporary art, one needs to fathom the philosophical analysis of "medium."Print Making, a form of art known for its convenience in communication and multiple production, has changed the theory of art significantly. This research studies Print Making as a medium, Difference and Trace as a philosophy, and Andy Warhol' prints. Thus, this paper intends to address the strengths of Print Making in relation to the Post-Modern age.
