Abstract
Currently, smart furniture is changing its existing concepts and properties as it com- bines AI's super intelligence and robot's automatic control technology based on connectivity of IoT. In particular, it is evolving into a futuristic smart furniture that autonomously provides various information and services, blurring the boundaries between residential spaces and home appliances. Therefore, the researcher would like to analyze how the traditional concept of furni- ture is changing through convergence with digital technology. As a research method, the re- searcher redefined the overall concept of IoT based on various academic papers and literature, and also look at AI and robots that are closely related to the development of IoT. Next, the re- searcher establish the concept and role of technology converged smart furniture and derive five characteristics. Based in this, an analysis model is created and appropriate cases are analyzed. The scope of case study is from 21st century to the present. Through this, the researcher typifies the direction of furniture design in the digital age and suggest the possibility of rational and ef- ficient design to furniture designers in the near future.
