As a leader develops a good work relationship with only a few selected subordinates in a work team, it may negatively affect a subordinate's fairness perception and work behaviors. However, these undesirable outcomes of differentiated relationship quality in a work team may be lessened if team-oriented HR practices compensate for the lack of relationship-based leader support. After investigating this phenomenon, as expected, we found that leader-member exchange differentiation negatively influenced a subordinate's perceived distributive justice which subsequently affected the subordinate's organizational citizenship behaviors and counterproductive work behaviors and that team-oriented HR practices significantly attenuated the negative effect of leader-member exchange differentiation on subordinate distributive justice perception. © 2014 International Information Institute.-
