Abstract
This study examines how many youths have experiences of victimization on internet blog and why they are victimized. This study uses several explanatory factors from routine activity/lifestyle theory. This study uses data from 576 male and female middle school students in Seoul, 2007. Results show that 73.4% of respondents use blog and 43.7% of them have experiences of victimization on their own blog. The most frequent type of victimization is malicious language violence. Results reveal that victimization is explained by target attractiveness and exposure to victimization risk such as the number of visitors and the level of provisions of individual information. However, other factors of exposure to victimization risk, guardianship, and collective efficacy have no significant effects on victimization. These results partially support routine activity/lifestyle theory. The policy implications are discussed.
