- Abstract
- This study investigates ‘-nari’ and ‘-tari’ in Japanese glossed material Bai Shi Chang Qing Ji (call number: 古古5-79-나10)’s Xin Yue Fu(abb. Xin Yue Fu, vol. 3, 4). This paper compares with Oh(2022b) that dealt with auxiliary verb in Mubatsu-bon Lun Yu Ji Jie (abb. Mubatsu-bon).
There are 52 examples and 3 examples in which the copula auxiliary verb ‘-nari’ and ‘-tari’ proving each other. It compares with Mubatsu-bon and Xin Yue Fu, in spite of a quantity of Xin Yue Fu is fewer than Mubatsu-bon, the former is almost same, but latter is extremely fewer than Mubatsu-bon.
There are 66 examples of ‘-nari’ and 56 examples of ‘-tari’ as adjective suffixes. In the case of Mubatsu-bon, there are 66 examples and 50 examples. Adjective suffixes are more numerous than those of Mubatsu-bon.
In case of conjugation of ‘-nari’ and ‘-tari’, although the parts of speech are different, usage ratio of continuative form is higher than that of Mubatsu-bon. It may be considered that the contents of Xin Yue Fu are poems, therefore adnominal modification form is frequently used.
There are 48 types (66 examples) of ‘-nari’ as a suffix of adjective, among which 36 types have with 1 Chinese character stem, 12 types have with 2 Chinese characters stem. 2 Chinese character nari-adjectives are more than Mubatsu-bon. Among them, 19 examples containing 1 Chinese character stem and 1 example containing 2 Chinese character stem adjective are read as Japanese proper word.
There are 46 types (50 exmaples) of ‘-tari’ as a suffix of adjective, of which, 34 types are reduplicated words, and all of examples are read as Sino-Japanese word.
