- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of achievement goal orientation and self-determination motivation on self-directed learning ability in high school students. The subjects consisted of 125 high school students. Structural equation modeling analysis was used on the students’ data. The results were as follows: First, there were significant correlations among the all sub-factors of self-directed learning ability, achievement goal orientation and self-determination motivation. Second, achievement goal orientation and self-determination motivation had a directly positive association with self-directed learning ability. However, performance avoidance goals had a negative association with self-directed learning ability. The findings are expected to contribute to the design self-directed learning programs in high schools. © 2015, Research India Publications, All rights Reserved.
