교사효능감이 중학생의 교사만족에 미치는 영향 분석

Abstract

교사효능감은 학교에서 많은 시간을 보내는 학생들의 학습과 생활 만족에도 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 문제 인식에서, 본 연구는 교사효능감과 중학생의 교사만족 간의 영향 관계를 탐색하는 데 그 목적을 두었다. 『한국교육종단연구 2005』3차년도 데이터(2007년)인 중학교 3학년 교사 및 학생 패널 데이터를 활용하여 교사 설문지와 학생 설문지에 응답한 전국 147개 중학교의 교사 2,505명과 학생 6,040명의 자료를 기술통계, 회귀분석 방법을 활용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 교사들의 효능감 수준은 대체로 높았고, 학습지도 효능감이 생활지도 효능감보다 조금 더 높았다. 학생들의 교사만족은 보통 정도 수준이었으나 교사의 학습지도에 대한 만족에 비해 생활지도에 대한 만족은 다소간 낮은 것으로 조사되었다. 또한, 교사효능감이 높을수록 학생들의 교사에 대한 만족도도 높아져서 두 변수 간에는 통계적으로 유의한 영향관계가 있었으며, 특히 교사효능감의 하위영역인 학습지도 및 생활지도 효능감은 학생의 교사만족 하위영역인 학습지도 및 생활지도에 대한 만족에 각각 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 연구 결과를 토대로 교사들의 효능감을 높일 수 있도록 전문성 개발활동과 지원이 필요하다는 내용을 위시한 정책적 제언을 도출하여 제시하였다.

Assuming that teacher efficacy would influence upon middle school student satisfaction with the teaching and guidance provided by teachers, we explore the relationship between teacher efficacy and students’ satisfaction with teachers. Utilizing the survey data of 2,505 teachers and 6,040 students in 147 middle schools extracted from the『Korean Education Longitudinal Study(2005)』longitudinal data, descriptive statistics and regression analysis methodology are applied. Data analysis shows that the level of teacher efficacy is above average, while teacher efficacy on teaching is higher than teacher efficacy on student guidance. Students’ satisfaction level with teachers reveals similar tendency as students are more satisfied with teachers’ teaching activities than their student guidance activities. There exists a positive relationship between teacher efficacy and students’ satisfaction with teachers. Based on research findings, a few policy recommendations such as teacher professional development activities to improve efficacy are suggested.
