개인간 갈등관리의 2차원 모형에 대한 검증

Abstract

이중관심모형은 개인간 갈등에서 당사자가 자신에 대한 관심과 상대방에 대한 관심의 2개 차원에 기초해 갈등관리 전략을 선택한다고 가정한다. 개인이 선택하는 갈등관리 전략은 협력, 경쟁, 양보, 회피, 및 타협 등 5개 유형으로 구분된다. 본 연구는 일반적인 사회갈등에 대한 개인간 갈등관리 유형 결정요인의 2차원성을 규명하고, 갈등관리 유형들 간의 인식적 거리를 측정하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 이중관심모형에서 제시하고 있는 갈등관리 5개 유형들을 확증적 요인분석을 통해 검증하였다. 또한 확증적 요인분석을 통해 검증된 갈등관리 유형들 간의 인식적 거리를 측정하기 위해 다차원척도법(multi-dimensional scaling: MDS) 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 사회갈등에 대한 개인간 갈등관리 전략은 이중관심모형에서 제시된 것처럼 협력, 경쟁, 양보, 회피, 및 타협의 5가지 유형으로 분명하게 구분되었으며, 자신에 대한 관심과 상대방에 대한 관심 두 차원에 의해 갈등관리 전략이 상당부분 결정되는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 이러한 분석결과를 토대로 갈등관리를 위한 실천적인 시사점들을 제시하였다.

The dual concern model assumes that interpersonal conflict strategies are determined by the relative emphasis on concern for himself versus that for the other party. The two dimensions are interpreted in terms of five conflict management styles including cooperation, contention, yielding, compromise, and avoidance, This study attempted to examine the two-dimensionality of interpersonal conflict strategies and further to assess perceived similarity of the five strategies. It conducted confirmatory factor analysis to examine whether the five strategies were empirically distinct. Then, it conducted multidimensional scaling(MDS) to measure perceptual distances among the strategies. Supporting the dual-concern model, the results clearly differentiated the five styles of handling interpersonal conflict along the two dimensions. The results suggest important implications for social conflict management.
