대학 플립드 러닝 환경에서 학습자의 기본심리욕구가 자기결정성을 매개로 학습몰입에 미치는 영향

Abstract

플립드 러닝은 학습몰입을 효과적으로 촉진할 수 있는 학습자 중심 수업형태로 각광받고 있다. 그러나 플립드 러닝 상황에서 학습자의 학습몰입 발현을 설명하는 구체적인 발현기제에 대한 논의는 여전히 부족한 편이었다. 특히 학습몰입을 조형하는 주요한 축으로서 학습자의 동기가 고려될 수 있음에도 불구하고 동기기제를 살펴보는 연구는 많지 않았다. 이에 본 연구는 대학 플립드 러닝 환경에서 학습자의 기본심리욕구가 자기결정성을 매개로 학습몰입에 미치는 동기기반 발현기제를 탐색하는데 목적을 두었다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 대학에서 플립드 러닝 강좌 수강생을 대상으로 설문조사를 수행하였고, 최종 230명의 설문 응답을 토대로 통계자료 분석을 진행하였다. 기본심리욕구, 자기결정성, 학습몰입으로 연결되는 발현 경로에 대한 경로분석을 위해 경로분석을 수행하였으며, 구체적으로는 변인 간의 영향관계와 매개변인의 매개효과를 실증하는데 중점을 두었다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기본심리욕구는 학습몰입에 정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 기본심리욕구는 자기결정성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 자기결정성은 학습몰입에 정적 영향을 미쳤다. 끝으로, 기본심리욕구와 학습몰입간의 관계에서 자기결정성이 매개효과를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 대학 플립드 러닝 환경에서 학습자의 학습몰입을 위해 교수자가 학습자의 기본심리욕구와 자기결정성을 고려하여 교수설계를 할 수 있는 시사점을 제공한다는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다.

Flipped learning is known as a student-centered learning environment and is widely adopted at higher education settings. Despite the importance of leaners’ motivation mechanism on flipped learning, very few studies have examined the antecedent variables that affects students motivation in university flipped learning environment. Thus, the purpose of this study is to examine the effect of basic psychological needs on student engagement through the mediation of self-determination. A survey of 230 students from a flipped learning course, descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis had been conducted, then the meditation effect was investigated. Findings are as follow: First, basic psychological needs positively affected on student engagement and self-determination. Second, competence and relatedness, which are sub-factors of basic psychological needs, also affected on them. Third, self-determination has a positive effect on student engagement. Forth, self-determination has a mediating effect between basic psychological needs and student engagement. There is no mediation effect of autonomy, while self-determination partially mediate the effect of competence on student engagement. The significance of this study lies in helping instructors to design highly student-engaged flipped learning instruction by considering basic psychological needs and encouraging self-determination of students.
