- Abstract
- In Korea, talented people in the labor market want to be teachers, in contrast to many developed countries that face the problem of deficit and deteriorating quality. This means that the teaching career is an attractive profession for Korean youth. This article analyzes the various factors that have contributed to increasing the attractiveness of the teaching career. Among these factors, government interventions to attract, select and maintain excellent teachers in Primary and Secondary are highlighted. Along with the good achievement of these policies, this article presents the challenges they face, and proposes analytical views on the type of effects that these policies have had on the quality of the teaching staff.
