노인의 디지털 리터러시와 사회활동

Abstract

노인들은 디지털 기기에 대한 접근과 활용에서 가장 취약한 집단 중 하나이다.디지털 소외는 노인의 디지털 기기의 이용 저하 뿐 아니라, 나아가 노년의 삶의 질, 경제활동, 사회 참여 등에 부정적 영향을 미친다. 본 연구는 노인의 주관적 연령 인식과 디지털 리터러시 수준 간의 상관관계를 분석하고, 이들 변수들이 노인의 사회활동 참여에 미치는 영향을 실증분석 하고자 하였다. 분석결과, 노인의 디지털 리터러시 수준이 상당히 낮은 것으로 나타났고, 노인의 디지털 리터러시는 사회활동 참여도와 만족도에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 분석결과를 토대로 본 연구는 노인 디지털 리터러시 증진을 위한 구체적인 정책적 제언을 하고자 하였다.

Elderly people are one of the most vulnerable groups in accessing and using digital devices. Digital alienation not only degrades the use of digital devices by the elderly, but also negatively affects their quality of life, economic activities, and social participation. The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between subjective age perception of the elderly and digital literacy level, and further to empirically analyze the effects of these variables on elderly people’s social participation. It was found that the level of digital literacy of the elderly was very low, and their digital literacy level had a significant effect on social activity participation and satisfaction. Drawing on these findings, this study made important policy suggestions to promote digital literacy for the elderly.
