실외 자연놀이에서 2세 영아에게 나타나는 인지적 경험의 의미

Abstract

본 연구는 실외 자연놀이 중 영아의 인지적 영역이 촉발되는 경험세계를 살펴봄으로써 영 아들의 인지적 발달을 지원하는 방안을 찾는 데 목적을 두고 수행되었다. 연구자는 2013년 6 월부터 11월까지 G어린이집 2세반에서 남아 5명과 여아 3명을 대상으로 하여 실외 자연놀이 에서 일어나는 인지적 경험에 대한 참여관찰을 하였다. 본 연구에서 설정한 두 개의 연구 문 제와 그에 대한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫 번째 연구문제는 ‘2세 영아는 어린이집 일과 중 일상 적으로 이루어지는 실외 자연놀이 활동을 통해 어떠한 인지적 경험을 하는가?’이다. 그 결과 2세 영아의 자연놀이에서의 인지적 경험은 ‘개념이해’와 ‘사고하기’로 나타났다. 2세 영아들의 개념이해 경험은 ‘자연물을 통한 범주화’, ‘수학개념’, ‘생물개념’에 대한 이해로 나타났으며, 사 고하기 경험은 ‘표상하기’, ‘인과관계 추론하기’, ‘문제해결하기’로 나타났다. 두 번째 연구 문제 는 ‘어린이집의 일과 중 일상적으로 이루어지는 실외 자연놀이를 통한 2세 영아의 인지적 경 험은 어떠한 교육적 의미를 갖는가?’이다. 2세 영아들의 자연놀이에 대한 교육적 의미는 ‘자 유로운 탐구의 발현’, ‘유연한 시간과 공간의 경험’, ‘수평적 교사의 역할’로 나타났다.

The purpose of this qualitative research was to explore the procedures, objects and their meanings of two-year-olds’ cognitive experiences during their outdoor nature play in a child care center. The participants of the study were eight two-year-olds’ in a child care center; five boys and three girls. The participant observations were made from June-November 2013. The results are as follows. First, two-year-olds’ cognitive expediencies about nature play were categorized into ‘concept understanding’ and ‘thinking’. It appeared that two-year-olds’ experienced ‘nature concepts’ through ‘categorization’, ‘mathematical concepts’ and ‘biological concepts’ in terms of concept understanding. Second, the educational meaning of two-old-years nature play appeared as follows: expression of free exploration, experiencing flexible time and space, and distant teacher’s role.
