거주지역의 특성이 초혼 시기에 미치는 영향

Abstract

한국의 초혼 평균 연령은 지난 수십 년 동안 급격히 증가했습니다. 최근 연구에서는 지역 경제 여건의 변화가 만혼 및 미혼의 증가와 밀접한 관련이 있음을 강조하고 있다. 그러나 집값 등 지역적 편차는 지역마다 다르지만 초혼 시기는 지역별로 큰 차이를 보이지 않는다. 본 연구의 목적은 지역에 따라 지역적 변이와 초혼 시기의 관계가 달라지는지 여부를 조사하는 것이다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 수도권의 높은 집값이 초혼 시기에 긍정적인 영향을 미치기 때문에 수도권 거주가 평균 초혼 연령을 증가시키는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 초혼 시기는 수도권 지역의 경제 여건에 영향을 받지만 비수도권 지역의 인구통계학적 특성에 영향을 받는다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 혼인 및 출산을 개선하기 위한 정책은 지역적 특성을 고려하여 추진되어야 함을 시사한다.

The average age of first marriage of South Korea has shown a rapid increase in the past few decades. Recent studies have emphasized that changes in regional economic conditions are closely aligned with the increase in late marriage and non-marriage. However, while the regional variations such as housing prices are different between regions, the timing of first marriage does not show much difference by region. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the relationship between regional variations and the timing of the first marriage varies depending on the areas. The main results of this study are as follows. Firstly, it was found that residence in the metropolitan area has increased the average age of first marriage, because high housing prices in the metropolitan area have an positive impact on the timing of first marriage. Second, the timing of the first marriage is affected by economic conditions of the region in Seoul Metropolitan Area, but impacted by demographic characteristics in non-Seoul Metropolitan Area. The results of this study imply that any future policies designed to improve marriage and childbirth need to be implemented after considering the regional characteristics.
