- Abstract
- Gelatin derivative was prepared to coating titanium surface and photo-immobilize rhBMP-2 for improved osteoinduction and function. The conjugation was confirmed by P-31 and H-1 NMR. Photo immobilization of the azide-phosphonate-gelatin (Az-P-Gel) was evaluated by micropatterning. The rate of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein (rhBMP-2) release was evaluated for performance of Az-P-Gel as a carrier. The water contact angle was determined to characterize Ti surface coated with Az-P-Gel. Ability to induce osteogenesis of Az-P-Gel was evaluated using alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity assay, Alizarin Red S staining, and calcium colorimetric assay. Our results demonstrate that Ti modified with Az-P-Gel and rhBMP-2 facilitates bone regeneration. (C) 2016 The Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry. Published by Elsevier B.V.
