유아 성교육 활성화를 위한 성교육 실태 및 유아교사의 인식과 요구 조사

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 유아 성교육 실태와 유아교사의 인식 및 요구를 분석하여 유아 성교육 활성화를 위한 기초자료를 제공하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 유아교육기관에서 이루어지는 성교육 실태와 성교육에 대한 유아교사의 인식 및 요구로 구성된 총 26개 문항의 설문지를 문헌분석 및 전문가 협의 등을 통해 개발하였다. 연구 대상은 서울, 경기 지역의 유치원과 어린이집에 재직 중인 교사 362명이며 수집된 자료는 SPSS 18.0을 이용하여 빈도 및 기술통계를 실시하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대부분의 유아교육기관에서 유아 성교육을 실시하고 있었으며 사회적 요구에 부합하는 목표를 가지고 운영하고 있었으나 교수자료의 형태가 매우 제한적인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 성교육 관련 부모교육이 비교적 활성화되지는 않았고, 유아교사들은 현직교사 연수를 통해 성교육 관련 내용을 접하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 유아교사들은 유아 성교육의 필요성을 많이 느끼고 있었으며 가정과 연계하여 실시하는 것이 바람직한 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 그러나 성교육의 내용과 방법을 잘 모르고 관련 자료나 교재가 부족한 것이 어려움으로 존재하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 향후 유아 성교육의 활성화를 위한 방안들을 제안하였다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate sex education, to analyze early childhood teachers’ perceptions of and demands on the education for children, and eventually to provide preliminary data to develop effective programs of sex education. To achieve these goals, the survey questionnaire of 26 items, which were related to sex education in child care centers and/or kindergarten teachers’ perceptions of and demands on sex education, was proposed and developed via extensive literature reviews and professional advice. The 362 teachers of child care centers and/or kindergartens in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do participated in the survey and the multivariate descriptive statistical analysis on the collected data was performed by the program SPSS 18.0. The statistical results indicate that 1) sex education that meets social demands was taught in the majority of the institutes, but the instructional materials were very limited, parent education program for sex education was not effectively provided in the field, and the teachers were only educated through regular sex education training of school districts; and 2) the teachers recognized the needs for sex education and perceived sex education to be related to family, but it was found that there were limitations on content, methods, sources and materials for sex education. Based on the analysis of these results, facilitation strategies for providing children’s sex education were proposed.
