Abstract
This study examines the uniqueness of Girls Hip-hop as a major through its introduction process in Korea. Drawing from four prior stud- ies with 'Girls Hip-hop' in their titles, the research analyzes two stages: the influx process and the singularity of Girls Hip-hop as a major. The influx process is categorized into four main stages and six sub-stages. Korean Girls Hip-hop faces two significant issues: legitimacy as an in- dependent major and identity dilemmas arising from similar dance styles. Influenced by the US and Japan, Korean Girls Hip-hop is gradually di- verging from the tendency to interpret all labeled dances as defined by Japan. Consequently, it contributes to the diversity of dance arts by in- tegrating various influences.
