Abstract
This paper aims to develop multi-channel knit band electrodes to acquire surface electromyography signal from the upper limb amputees. The knit electrodes have several advantages such as good stretchability, excellent breathability and absorbency. Performance comparisons between the knit band electrodes using the snap buttons and the commercial wet electrodes are given to show the effectiveness of the developed. The developed knit band consists of two parts: conductive area using the silver-plated polyamide multi-filament and nonconductive area composed of biomax (Dual Tex) so that perspiration can quickly be evaporated keeping it dry for comfort. Experimental results have revealed that the knit band electrodes could achieve similar performance to the commercial wet electrodes.
