- Abstract
- An essay is provided on health communication research and its use in medical practice in Asia. Background information is provided on the relevance of health communication in Asia owing to factors including population, health disparities, and historical epidemics. The article discusses journals where health communications research is published, scholarly associations that have been developed to foster improved health communication including the Korea Health Communication Society, and organization of health communication curricula in universities. No formal programs of health communication study yet exist in Asian universities.
