Abstract
Magnetic composite materials, composed of carbonyl iron powders and silicone resins, were fabricated to investigate the relationship between the magnetic property and composition. Their saturation magnetizations linearly increased from 2.29 to 9.15 kG with the volume fraction changes from 11 vol.% to 53 vol.%. However, the effective permeability did not show linear increment with the iron powder volume fraction because of non-magnetic boundary material. In order to predict the effective permeability of composite materials, a simple theoretical model has been proposed. The calculated permeability of the composite materials was mu(e) = mu(i)/mu(i)-3 root integral filler(mu(i)-1) which was in accord with the measured permeability.
