Abstract
This study was performed to investigate combustion and noise characteristics with single cylinder compression ignition engine when using pilot injection strategy. Test engine is displacement of 373.cc and compression ratio of 17.3. Fuel was pressurized by Haskel pump and injected by Bosch 6 hole injector. the combustion data was acquired by piezoelectric transducer(6057A80, Kister) and the noise data was acquired by microphone at a distance of 1 meter from engine and a height of 1 meter for 9 to 10 seconds. Through analyzing the result data, it was confirmed that pilot injection was effective for reducing the combustion noise.
