고령자의 교통수단 선택 변화과정에 관한 연구

Abstract

고령자를 위한 정책적 배려가 점차 중요하게 취급되는 현 시점에서 고령자들의 통행패턴에 관한 몇몇 연구들은 고령자들의 특성 및 요구(needs)를 파악하는 데 큰 도움을 주었다. 하지만 하나의 특정한 시점만을 대상으로 한 기존의 많은 연구들은 고령자들의 통행패턴이나 요구의 동적 변화패턴을 확인하기 힘들다는 점으로 인해 과거의 변화에 기반한 장기적 시각을 제시하는 데 한계가 있었다. 본 연구는 65세 이상의 고령인구를 대상으로 과거 10년 동안의 통행수단이용률의 변화패턴을 확인함으로써, 향후의 교통정책이 어떠한 측면에 초점을 두고 진행되어야 하는지에 관해 논하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 통행수단이용률의 동적변화를 실증적으로 확인하기 위해 1996, 2002, 2006년 수도권 가구통행실태조사 자료를 이용하여 연령대별 교통수단이용률을 시기별로 확인하였으며, 이후 연령대별 코호트 분석을 시도하여 고령자들에게 자동차와 버스의 상대적 중요성이 계속적으로 낮아지고 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 실증분석 기간에 고령인구로 진입하는 55~59세 코호트를 대상으로 임의절편모형을 추정한 결과 자동차와 버스 이용률의 경우 1년에 각각 1.27%와 0.93%씩 감소하며, 지하철과 도보의 경우 각각 0.09%, 1.65%씩 증가하는 것으로 분석하였다.

With the growing interest in the travel behavior of the elderly, there have been an increasing number of studies investigating the travel patterns of such mobility handicapped people. However, most of them have not paid much attention to the changing travel patterns over time as they were based on the cross-sectional views. The purpose of this study is to investigate the dynamic travel mode changes of the elderly using 1996, 2002, 2006 household travel survey. Firstly, this study examined the changing patterns of different travel mode shares of the elderly using the cohort analysis as well as the repeated cross-sectional analysis. The result showed that the relative importance of car and bus has diminished during the case study period. Secondly, random intercept model was used to estimate the changing rate of each model share. It was found that the model shares of car and bus have decreased by 1.27% and 0.93% per year respectively. In contrast, the subway has increased by 0.09% per year and walking has shown an increase of 1.65% every year.
