- Abstract
- For successful implementation of network technology into EFL learning and instruction, this study attempts to suggest a widely extended concept of the English teacher homepage. The function of a personal homepage has changed over the decade, from boosting self-esteem to achieving "portality." However, the teacher homepage still remains static, unfocused, far distant fromassisting effective network-based language teaching(NBLT). This design problem comes from the lack of understanding in CALL theory and practice. Based on the need, this study reviews three related theories-teaching portfolios, NBLT, and personal web portals-and integrates them into a newframework of a multifunctional teacher homepage. This multifunctional teacher homepage will play a role in 1) leading a more efficient and organized life as a personalized portal, 2) developing teaching expertise as a digital teaching portfolio, and 3) facilitating effective NBLT in the curriculum.
