Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine domestic and foreign smoking related policies and physical activity related smoke-free policies to find ways to improve adolescent smoking related policy and to help decrease in smoking rates. For this study, adolescent smoking related policies in Sweden, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Korea were examined through literary investigation. The results revealed the following: First, government should enact laws to eradicate tobacco marketing in sports activities and events. Second, Everyone taking part in a sport or recreational activity do not smoke and keep smoke-free environments while participating in the activity. Third, the proportion of adolescents who participate in extracurricular and out of school activities should increase. Third, for smoking prevention education, it is necessary to hold a variety of smoking related sports events. Last, there is a need to develop smoking prevention and cessation programs to match age levels. In conclusion, in order to protect young people from smoking and to reduce smoking rates we need policy support.
